The Gift of Laylatul- Qadr

Laylatul- Qadr, is also described as a gift for the Prophet Muhammadโ€™s ๏ทบ ummah.

If we have been fortunate to witness another month of Ramadan, we owe it to our souls to self-reflect and seek spiritual rejuvenation, especially with such a gift as Laylatul- Qadr; we should seize it. Itโ€™s a reminder of Allahโ€™s (swt) infinite mercy how he  paves the way for us to draw closer to him providing easy opportunities for us to gain reward in abundance. All we have to do is seize these opportunities and increase our ibadaat as best we can in this blessed month and during the night of Laylatul- Qadr.

With respect to fasting it is prescribed for men and women. Some women however, often feel a sense a loss during Ramadan if theyโ€™re not fasting for excusable reasons such as during menses or pregnancy and understandably so, may feel left out.

Aisha (ra) once said:

We set out with the Prophet ๏ทบ for Hajj and when we reached Sarif I got my menses. When the Prophet ๏ทบ came to me, I was weeping. He asked, "Why are you weeping โ€ฆ May be that you got your menses?" I replied, "Yes." He then said, "This is the thing which Allah has ordained for all the daughters of Adam. So do what all the pilgrims do except that you do not perform the Tawaf round the Ka`ba till you are clean." [Bukhari]โœจ

The Prophetโ€™s ๏ทบ words should come as comfort and a reminder that this is how women have been created, thus our accountability only lies in what is in our control. So if weโ€™re not able to fast for the aforementioned reasons, donโ€™t waste time yearning for that weโ€™ve been excused from, rather ask what can we do instead, for that is where opportunities lie. There is still dhikr, istigfar, dua, reading tafseer or seerah, giving charity and feeding the fasting etc. These count. The only constraints we place on ourselves are through our mindset and this can actually apply to anyone in Ramadan, man or woman with respect to ibadat. There is much we can all do if we strive and push ourselves to achieve our personal best. That is the measure that counts and will lead to reaping much inshaAllah in the blessed month of Ramadan. ๐ŸŒ™
